Mary: Hey Johnny..????
Johnny: Yes..???
Mary: I lo- I opposite of hate you!!
Johnny: What???
Hate is opposite of love some say...!! Well may be on first thought people would say that.. But I disagree!! Vehemently!! You would have often heard the phrase being coined "they have a love-hate relationship....."
Me thinks, love and hate have a lot of similarities... Both need an element of intense energy and focused thoughts.. When you hate someone its actually an extension of your thoughts, possibly your anger.. May be a thought that one or more of the conditions entitled to your love are not being met. Or may be you would say that when you are too afraid to say I love you... and instead you end up saying I hate you...
And anyways, in modern times, unconditional love is a novelty. Food for thought: When you fall out of love, when the love has truly run its full cycle, you start "not caring", not being attentive to what the other individual is going thru...
If you hate someone, he is more likely to get much if your attention and energy. That would mean hate and love are similar emotions!! When you are young, you are irresponsible about it. You probably pull a disappearing act, change social circles, possibly change your path when the object of such acute attention comes your way. Once you decide you are done, you move on and do not care to look back to see what could have been better..
The
"hates" of my life were people I once cared deeply for and in essence, by hating them, I still did. In each case, it was because of the hurt I perceived they had laid on me. Quite frankly, instances where I have hated an individual has more likely been a fren and it more likely has boiled down to a feeling that I had been betrayed by that individual.
As you mature you learn that hate is not only non-productive but also a waste of time and energy. You learn to forgive and forget. you overlook certain things and you move on. You learn to forget the negative thoughts and accept whatever is coming your way. Or you neglect and move on with a feeling of indifference.
At the end you realise, Hate is not an opposite of love..!! hate is love in its ugliest, angriest form!!
